Case studies
Azam – completed the Build Salford DIY Home & Maintenance programme (in partnership with Guinness, Salix Homes and Salford City College Group)
“As a single mum, I often feel nervous about letting people I don’t know into my home. I don’t want to rely on other people, so having these skills will help me in my life daily. Everything I’ve learned, I can do myself – it’s not unachievable! It has given me confidence and I’m also really glad to have made new friends.”
Harry – completed the Build Salford flagship traineeship, now employed at Kinlan Brickwork
“We went through a lot of different stuff on Build Salford, and it gave me an insight into everything. I went on to try brickwork, which I’d never done before, but it was like second nature to me. Doing Build Salford has improved me, it has helped me with my social skills and everything. It’s probably the best thing I ever did, to be honest.”
Build Salford run various training programmes throughout the year. Some examples of past programmes include:
- The Build Salford annual traineeship
- DIY and home maintanence for women
- Sprayplastering
- Construction summer programme for school leavers
